Late Valentine

I shared this before the fateful date on social networks but I didn’t take the time for those of you who are not affiliated with it.

So I’m fixing my mistake, with a little delay.

Knotwork

I discovered calligraphy through the study of Celtic decoration more than 27 years ago.

I go back in time and propose you to discover these decorations with their construction methods in an online course.

The English version will take place on February 27 and 28, 2021.

The French version will take place on February 20 and 21, 2021.

I have only been posting works related to my online courses recently. I have to admit that it takes a lot of time.
Nevertheless, with Valentine’s Day approaching, I decided to do something a bit different.
Here is a Roman capital decorated with white vine on a support of patinated copper leaf, the whole being made with acrylic paint.
I take this opportunity to wish you (with a little advance), full of love in this new year.

And, if you doubt my ability to realize a patinated copper foil collage, you are right. It is my wife who made it… All I did was to scribble my Roman capital and its associated Vine over it.

All I need is love and a woman who does great things to help me 😉

I’ve been very busy lately with my online courses and I haven’t had much time to create new works even if I have (as always) lots of projects in my drawers.
To make you wait, here are a few small letters with, for once, a little bit of color (I confess, my palette is limited).

Fragment of a poem by Mallarmé realized on a page of a dictionary (the book par excellence).

And, to be a little in my era, I calligraphed these verses with a palette pen by reinterpreting a typeface, the COURIER NEW whose spaces are somettimes bad and which still are in my interpretation.

The whole was calligraphied in Payne’s grey and, for decoration, a little bit of watercolor with some white and ultramarine blue.
