At my wife’s request, I started writing a little children’s book. As it is dedicated to a particular child, I will only post a few pages on this blog.
Nevertheless, I share with you the first one.

Virgilis – WIP
I had started to calligraphy Book I of the Aeneid on a door last May… It’s still not over, but I’ve made some progress.
67 lines for the moment, at the rate of 20 minutes per line, I have already spent more than 22 hours there.

works in progress
I regularly complain that I don’t have time during the year to work on my calligraphies… It’s even worse during the holidays!
I’m nonetheless share a few “in progress” things with you :
To begin, I continue on my stained glass on slate (which I have already had the opportunity to talk about here for example).
I arrive at the end (more than ten hours of work to foresee) of the engraving of the filigrees, it will be time then to pass to the following stage, rust!
Otherwise, I work on several large letters & monograms, I show you here the preparatory works of the first monogram :
maybe more pictures next week if the work in the garden lets me move on my calligraphies:-)
Galerie 67
After my workshop at Gallery 67, and with a lot of delay, I make some filigrees on the tote bags to offer them to the trainees (don’t tell them, they don’t know).

Slate is not bad either
Yeah, because granite’s still hard. And when the slabs are already in place, it means making his engraving on his knees which is quickly painful.
So I resumed the slate engraving started last fall and abandoned because of cold.
The pattern is finished, all that remains is to dress it with filigrees. A few more hours of work ahead!
Not inspired
Right now, I’m having trouble finding inspiration or rather, I don’t like any of the work I’m starting and I’m throwing hours of work in the trash.
It’s not the first time this has happened to me and I think we all go through this kind of period.
While waiting for inspiration to come back, I do filigrees, at least I’m pretty sure I’ll do something not too bad.
small initials with walnut stain and iron gall ink
I even compose new characters because I’m a little bit tired of the Latin alphabet
and then I advance little by little on a more ambitious work but much too long for me to come to the end in only one day.
