Like a tune of freedom

A new poem by Guillevic, still the same size & the same colors.

Just a J

Driven by my momentum in my border of filigrees, I composed this J.

Alizarin paint for the letter, a few gilded dots to bring light and a rectangle of filigrees to finish.

Well, it’s true that I had announced something other than filigrees in this post.
But you know me, I’m a maniac, an obsessed man…
So the further work on this composition includes… filigrees

Until I have finished, you will only be allowed partial views, I hope these will satisfy you enough to wait a little more 🙂

And to materialize the general idea, I folded a corner of the paper to show a piece of the back.

For those who would ask themselves the question, no, I didn’t make filigrees on the whole back, only on the corner that we see:-)

Amor vincit omnia

Love overcomes everything
Virgil said it (not exactly in this form), I hope it’s true.
In the meantime, a little monogram for friends who are going through difficult times.

I stay on letters about 2cm high, mixture of walnut stain and iron gall ink, the heart is gilded with gold leaf, the filigrees are done with iron gall ink.

I can’t get out of it.
I barely realized a few letters when they were bought or booked. I’m not complaining, let’s be clear, but at this rate, I’ll never have a complete alphabet to show!

HAKS

New little initials, just to regain taste and dexterity before relaunching myself into larger projects.

These patterns (and many others) will be taught during my course at the 38th International Calligraphy Congress of North America to be held this year in Sherbrooke (Quebec, Canada).

After a few weeks of doubts, failures and trial and errors, I finally composed a new calligraphy on a text by Guillevic.
I deliver it to you very hot out of the workshop, even if the subject is quite cold 😉

as in the first composition, it was made from walnut stain and iron gall ink, this time with a few gold-leaf dots to lighten and warm up the subject.

Bilingual

After a first course given in French and English (with an Italian translator to complete the picture) in MiroModo, Italy this winter and, in anticipation of other courses of the same type, I decided to compose small panels to identify the preferred language of the trainees I am addressing.
As I only speak French and English, it’s not too difficult to do, here are the first copies.

the reproductions (no, I didn’t compose each copy manually) are less good but still usable, so that you can better distinguish the patterns, here is a better quality version of each side.
