Mixed media

Here is a first draft of a mixed media work, just to see whether it has an interest from a graphical & visual point of view.

As for me, the answer is definitively yes even if, for this trial, I used a bad quality slate which broke at the last minute.
To be tried once more so, this time with better materials and probably a more ambitious work.

Carpe diem

I wanted to use rust in conjunction with engraving. It’s now done with this short quotation from the Odes by Horatius. I think, I’ll do other works using this technique, I really like the result.

First, I engraved the slate and second, I added some filings and then waited for rust to do its job. Once happy with it, I varnished the whole to freeze the development.

You can see another detail here, to see the whole work, it’s there.

Brooch

Christmas Eve has passed, one can now open the presents.
And in the box, this is what can be found.

This is my second try in jewellery after the bracelet. This brooch is 3.5cm in diameter and is made of zinc, varnished then engraved using acid.
The white vine pattern is my creation and I added a cabochon of slate.
I’m quite happy with it and so seems the person who received it 🙂
