Recycling

It’s decided, I stop calligraphy and I move on to nail art.
What I produced this morning has absolutely no interest except the decoration of my thumb 🙂

Stained glass window

A new embossed and filigree stained glass window, inspired by a pattern from a church in Rouen.

Genesis

My version of Genesis, in computer language (php) and in colors (as in my code editor), with the result displayed.

First, connect to server caelum (the sky) with username Moyses and password rubusarderet (burning bush) to access the database genesis.
If the connection fails, the system displays a fragment of an epigram of Martial: There is no god, the sky is empty.
Otherwise, we look for Genesis images and display them in ascending order.
If this step fails, a fragment of the Vulgate text will be displayed: terra est inanis et vacua.

The text and symbols are inspired by NEULAND with the introduction of uncial forms of abbreviations and ligatures.
Then there are the images, in iron gall ink, of the different days:
separation of light and darkness
separation of upper and lower waters
separation of land and water and creation of plants
creation of the moon, the sun and the stars
creation of birds and fish
creation of animals and man
rest

Monogram

Here is one of my latest commissions, an AFC monogram with the date of birth of the C integrated in the filigree and in shades of red.

So there are 2 reds, two types of filigree without counting the borders and gold leaf gilding.

Initials, next step

A few more initials & some monograms, things are progressing slowly.

Commission

Not being able to give my classes, I nevertheless continue to work.
And a charming lady from Canada was kind enough to order some small letters with filigrees.
Here are the first ones, there will be more!

A prayer

In these difficult times, regardless of our faith (I include atheists and agnostics), we all pray for things to get better.
Here is the result of a small commission that a friend made to me some time ago.

Faut être malin

It was on hearing this serinerant slogan on the radio for the umpteenth time that I decided on my calligraphic occupation of confinement.
Most of my colleagues are involved in “challenges” and my gregarious instinct being what it is (.i.e non-existent), I had to find my own way.
So I compose from advertising slogans, one maxim a day.
Here is my production for the moment.
You’ll tell me that it’s nonsense and I’ll tell you that you’re absolutely right 🙂

Today, it’s chemistry !

And it is a reinterpretation of Mendeleev’s table as he presented it in 1870.
Of course, some elements are missing compared to what we know today and the usual representation reverses the lines and columns compared to this one but it is always good (or almost), to return from time to time to the fundamentals 🙂

I calligraphed the symbols of the elements with walnut stain and I decorated the table with iron gall ink, decorating the different cells with small clouds of electrons.

And (I shouldn’t say this but you don’t get to do it again), I had made a mistake in the position of the gold (Au), I cut out the incriminated square and replaced it with an embossing of a golden patina that my wife had made on kraft paper. I think it’s very beautiful, it’s normal, it’s my wife who made it 🙂
